UCEN Manchester, formerly part of The Manchester College, offers a range of technical and professional higher-level skills across multiple sites in Greater Manchester. With foundation degrees and top-up honours or three-year honours degrees, students can gain a university-validated degree in the way that suits them.

UCEN offers over 100 different courses in various field including Access to Higher Education, Business and Management, Criminology and Social Justice, Health and Care Professions, Make Up Artistry and Special Effects, Theatre and Film among others.

Facilities

There is a library at each campus with flexible opening times and 24-hour access to online resources.

Students have access to UCEN's three dedicated on-site nurseries suitable for children from six months old up to the age of five years.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Most of UCEN's activity is focused around four campuses in Manchester. These include City Campus, Openshaw Campus, Shena Simon Campus and CityLabs.

All the campuses are easy to get to by train or bus. There is either no parking or very limited space at all the campuses so public transport is usually the best and cheapest option.

Manchester has a student population of 90,000, including 19,000 international students: one of the largest student populations in Europe. Its popularity is largely to do with its diverse range of things for students to see and do. Some sports fans will enjoy being in the home of both Manchester United and Manchester City while others may prefer to take advantage of the free museums, galleries, stunning architecture or the thriving music scene and nightlife.
