Open days at Cardiff Metropolitan University
Cardiff Metropolitan University is a public research institution recognised for its鈥痵ustainability鈥痠nitiatives and encourages students to get involved in activities such as locally grown food, repair cafes, and ethical investments.
The university offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications and is particularly well known for its arts and design courses as well as its sports programmes.
Facilities
Both campuses offer extensive 24/7 IT, library, and learning centres, print studios, and study support services. The MyCardiffMet app allows students to check the availability of resources and facilities across campuses.
There are a range of sports facilities including the Archers' Arena, Met Active - Cyncoed Dance Studio, Met Active - Llandaff, and the National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC).

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are 鈥� pretty much anything.鈥疍on't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
Cardiff Met has two campuses: one in Llandaff and the other in Cyncoed.
The鈥疞landaff campus is found two miles from the city centre, surrounded by green space and the historic village of Llandaff. It's easily reached by bus or if you go by train, it's a 20-minute walk from Waun-Gron railway station
The Cyncoed campus is home to the Cardiff School of Education & Social Policy and the Cardiff School of Sport & Health Sciences. There are various bus services that you can hop on to get there. The nearest train stations are both a 25-minute walk away.
Cardiff is a vibrant city with a thriving social scene, great shopping, world class sport and culture. It was recently declared the UK's first music city and is also known for being an affordable place to live. It's also a wonderful place for foodies, with plenty of independent restaurants and cafes to try. Look out for the regular street food pop-ups and markets.
