Questions to ask yourself
Deciding on a university and a course to study can be overwhelming. As a first step, think about what factors are important to you. Ask yourself:
- What subject area or specific course interests you?
- Where do you want to study?
- What type of university do you want to go to? e.g., city, town, rural
- What other opportunities and facilities do you want or need? e.g., student support, extracurricular activities, accommodation options
Our search tool Uniselect can help you come up with a shortlist based on some of these questions. The clearer you are, the more accurate the shortlist will be, but you can generate multiple shortlists based on different ideas you might have.
How do I compare universities?
Once you have identified and created your shortlist and worked out what matters most to you, our league tables will also help you compare university performance in areas like student satisfaction and graduate employability.
For a deeper dive into your shortlisted universities, read our uni profiles. This will give you a useful summary of each university offer including student support, facilities and what your student experience might be like.
You can find these by clicking on a university name in a league table or via the universities tab at the top of our home page.
