Whether you aspire to fuel elite athletes to reach new heights of performance or to enhance the well-being of individuals on the path to recovery, our program provides you with the essential tools to turn your ambitions into reality. The global interest in the role of nutrition to enhance health and performance has grown exponentially, creating an increased demand for dynamic, innovative nutrition graduates.

Our comprehensive sport and exercise nutrition degree is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN). Here, you will gain an understanding of the key disciplines of nutrition, physiology, and psychology, tailored specifically to the unique demands of optimizing athletic performance and promoting health through nutrition. You can also expand your expertise by developing your individual strengths and interests, with the option to engage in a year-long industry placement to further enrich your learning experience.

Here at Manchester Met, our accredited team of nutritionists, sport scientists and professionals collaborate with many organisations, from local sports clubs to Olympic athletes, offering invaluable opportunities for practical application and real-world placements. Finally, you will benefit from our state-of-the-art Institute of Sport facilities, equipped with technologies such as human performance laboratories, MRI scanners, and environmental chambers, providing unparalleled resources for hands-on learning and research exploration.

The significance of nutrition in enhancing health and wellness has garnered widespread attention and presents an opportune moment to immerse yourself in this dynamic field, with a myriad of career prospects.

In short, our sport and exercise nutrition degree opens doors to various career pathways directly aligned with the program's focus. For example, you may aspire to become a sports nutritionist, supporting elite athletes and sports teams, or leverage your expertise within the NHS or private healthcare sector. Alternatively, you might contribute as an exercise and nutrition specialist in rehabilitation settings. Entrepreneurial ventures in the leisure industry also beckon for those with innovative flair and ambition within sport and exercise nutrition, with a number of our graduates running their own consultancy businesses. Some of our graduates choose to carry on their studies with a Masters or PhD.

Given that our sport and exercise nutrition course is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN), when you graduate you will have the right to apply for direct entry at Associate level to the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists.

Choose a qualification

A level : BCC

Grades BCC or equivalent, to include at least one of Biology, Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology or Physical Education. Applicants undertaking A-levels in Physics, Chemistry and Biology will be expected to pass the Science Practical assessment.
