The BA (Hons) Sound Arts: Design pathway will develop your sound design and sound production skills in this vocational area of sound arts. You will explore a wide range of technologies and techniques for producing sound, and work across a range of media – including film, TV, games, animation, theatre and broadcast media with a fine arts perspective. This course will prepare you for a career as a sound designer in one of the many creative industries.Why Choose this course at LCC:· Industry-facing: This world-leading course reflects the status of sound art and design as a vital global interdisciplinary phenomenon, It is designed to prepare you for a wide range of careers in the creative media industries.· Facilities: Industry-standard facilities include a high spec Mac Lab, extensive hardware, digital recording devices, analogue synth studio, a multi-channel Sound Laboratory, Dolby Atmos Composition Studio and 5.1/Stereo Postproduction Studio – all supported by a dedicated technical team. You can also utilise shared College facilities such as the 3D Workshop and Creative Technology Lab to design physical instruments or devices.· Research: The course is closely linked to MA Sound Arts and Creative Research in Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP) Research Centre, whose doctoral students and research staff contribute to course tuition, highlighting the possibilities for academic progression beyond your undergraduate studies.· Collaboration: Collaboration is actively fostered, including during interdisciplinary projects. As well as working closely with your classmates, you'll also have opportunities to collaborate with students studying other Screen School subjects, including animation, music production, games design, and film. You'll also be encouraged to collaborate with relevant musicians, as well as partner organisations like IKLECTIK, Corsica Studios and Resonance FM.· Employability: Employability and enterprise are embedded throughout the course. You will have the opportunity to meet regularly with guest practitioners from the world of sound art and design, learn industry-standard technologies for the control and design of sound, and exhibit in professional gallery and performance spaces. The course provides many opportunities for you to participate in events that are open to industry and public, enabling networking and real-world professional artistic development.· International exchanges: You will also have opportunities to engage in international exchanges with institutions such as RMIT in Melbourne and UTS in Sydney.· Graduate success: Our graduates have gone on to work with leading organisations such as Tate Britain, Warp Records, Venice Biennale, Channel 5, BBC and Red Bull Music Academy.Course overviewBA (Hons) Sound Arts: Design is a multidisciplinary course for sonic artists whose goal is to work in the creative industries.
