The MSc Nursing programme empowers you to advance your practice and patient care by critically exploring professional biography, therapeutic relationships, and embedding an evidence-based, person-centred approach to care.
For those preferring a blended learning approach, the MSc Nursing (Block and Blend) option allows you to study in Salford during semester one, with the remainder of the course taught via distance learning.
Course Pathways:
- MSc Nursing: Focus on a general award to keep your career options open. You'll critically examine your practice and develop evidence-based approaches to improve patient care.
- MSc Nursing: Education: Concentrate on teaching and learning in clinical and academic contexts, supported by expert teachers. This pathway is ideal for those in new clinical teaching roles or considering an academic career.
- MSc Nursing: Practice (Gastro): Gain specialist knowledge in the care of patients with gastrointestinal or hepatobiliary disorders.
- MSc Nursing: Practice (Neuroscience): Develop skills to innovate in neuroscience care delivery.
- MSc Nursing: Practice: This UK-only pathway allows you to enhance your skills in patient care at an advanced level within your workplace.
- MSc Nursing: Research: Focus on improving patient care through research, accessing international expertise from research groups.
For PgCert, you will study "Critically Exploring Professional Practice" and one optional module. For PgDip, you will study "Critically Exploring Professional Practice" and three optional modules.

The programme uses a range of teaching strategies, including seminars, lectures, action learning, online learning, directed study, practice-based assessments, and peer-supported learning.
Assessment methods:
Assessments include oral presentations, 'Dragons Den'-style viva, written assignments, dissertation papers, and practice-based evaluations.
