Course summary

Through this two-year course, youll develop the skills and knowledge to work as a dietitian, delivering therapeutic nutrition in both public and private sector organisations.

Youll study the nutrition and health of the population, exploring topics from lifespan nutrition to diet therapy and human metabolism to common chronic diseases, and their management, and how these change over the life course. Youll also have sessions in our laboratories where youll complete practical evaluations.

Youll combine theory and practical sessions so that, when you graduate, youre prepared to practise as a dietitian across health and food sectors.

Youll attend professional development seminars to support you in your preparation for placement practice in a variety of settings. We have established links with industry and facilitate placement opportunities within our networks, enriching your own industry connections and practical experience.

Youll complete scientific-based research projects for your dissertation, focusing on your specialist study area and where you hope to develop a career.

Our MSc (Pre-Registration) Dietetics course has been approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and has been accredited by the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

Career prospects

From nutrition-related roles within government organisations to working in the media from food industry to research and development, theres a variety of career paths you could take as a dietitian.

You may decide to work in a healthcare setting or perhaps work in sport sector or even develop your career within health education. Becoming a dietitian can open up a variety of different careers to you.
