Course summary
This is a four year programme that will allow you to qualify in two fields of nursing. Your first field will be mental health nursing; your second will be children's nursing.Mental health nursing is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health and wellbeing of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health problems. Mental health nursing focuses on promoting recovery and improving outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems, based on the philosophy of holistic person-centred care, as well as challenging the stigma, discrimination and inequality often associated with mental illness problems. The children鈥檚 nursing field specialises in caring for children, young people and their families in a variety of settings, as part of an interprofessional approach to care. The work of a children鈥檚 nurse can range from caring for a sick newborn baby to caring for a teenager with complex physical or psychological needs. The course will empower you to become a flexible practitioner; clinically adept, caring and willing to accept responsibility for the care of children, young people and their families.
