Course summary

Study for a career in midwifery via our new Degree Apprenticeship route. The course will prepare you to be a confident and competent midwife. You will support women, birthing people and their families through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
The course has been designed by midwives in collaboration with midwifery employers. The course is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery council and meets standards set by the institute for Apprenticeship and Technical Education. You must be employed by an NHS Trust for the duration of your apprenticeship.
Youll benefit from a case-based approach to learning. You will learn how to adapt your specialist knowledge to real-world cases, putting women, birthing people, and their families at the centre of care provision. This will enable you to become an autonomous practitioner who can advocate for those in your care. At the end of the programme, you will be eligible to register with the NMC as a registered midwife.
During your midwifery apprenticeship you'll undertake clinical placements in a range of settings. Your placements will include both hospital and community-based care provision. This will enable you to put theory into practice, within a safe and welcoming environment. Throughout your journey you'll be supported by registered midwifery lecturers and clinical midwives.
