Course summary
: The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. At the end of your work placement you return to complete your degree and prepare to enter employment with improved confidence.Our work placement officer and the University’s careers service are available to help you find and apply for your work placement. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking.
Course overview: This course includes an integrated masters - you study three years at undergraduate level and one year at postgraduate level. Aerospace engineers design, test and build aircraft, spacecraft, satellites and missiles. If you have a passion for flight and space technology and want to become an engineer with varied skills, then this course is for you. You develop your knowledge and understanding of aerospace engineering subjects, including design, fluids, mechanics, flight control systems, structures, materials, propulsion, flight dynamics and aircraft performance.You are taught mainly at the University’s campus in Middlesbrough, but you have access to the extensive aerospace engineering workshops at Hartlepool College of Further Education. These include a hanger with fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, engines, and a wind tunnel. Free transport is provided between the University and the college should you need it.
